Free online image editors let you crop, filter and adjust photos, but they don't stop clients reverse-image-searching your mood boards to contact suppliers directly. Why free image editors alone won't protect your design mood boards

When you upload a mood board to a client presentation or store it online, a client can take a screenshot of that image and run it through Google Lens or TinEye. The reverse-image search engine reads the image’s unique fingerprint—a digital signature based on colour, tone, structure and embedded metadata—and finds the original source. From there, the client calls the supplier direct and bypasses your commission entirely.
A standard free editor doesn’t change that fingerprint. Cropping a photo or adding a vignette leaves the core image data intact enough for reverse-image search to still work. Metadata (camera model, location, creation date) remains embedded. The image, to a search engine, is still fundamentally the same.
What does real image protection actually do to a picture

Use image protection when the picture is core to your IP: a curated mood board, a client-specific material selection, a finished scheme that shows your process.
